Fifteen
minutes after the procedure is
completed, you will be able to
walk out of the office. However,
we do require someone to drive
you home. That person must also
be available to remain in the
office during the procedure.
In addition, you will be required
to visit our office for follow
up appointments to monitor your
progress and healing.
The
breast implant itself is a
silicone rubber envelope filled
with a sterile intravenous
saline and is warranted by
the manufacturer. While it’s
possible for an implant to
leak or break, this is extremely
rare. Potential side effects
of having the procedure include
infection, bleeding, hematoma,
pain, change or loss of sensation
in the nipple area, visible
edges of the implant, ability
to feel the implant, scar
formation, encapsulation causing
hardening of the implant area,
further procedures due to
any of the above, and possibly
an autoimmune reaction.
While
all of these events are rare,
additional procedures are
not uncommon. On a positive
note, the psychological effects
after your procedure will
be noticeable, especially
increased self-esteem and
confidence. |
