What is SmartLipo™?
SmartLipo uses a laser to rapidly dissolve fat and tighten the surrounding skin almost anywhere in the body. Now FDA-approved, this revolutionary and minimally invasive procedure offers less bleeding, swelling and bruising and a quicker recovery time than conventional liposuction.
Using local anesthesia, the procedure is performed with a small cannula that contains a laser fiber that when moved back and forth the laser energy dissolves fat and stimulates the tightening of surrounding skin.
How does SmartLipo differ from liposuction?
SmartLipo adds a "skin tightening" element to a liposuction procedure. It stimulates the production of elastin and breaks up dimples. SmartLipo is often combined with traditional liposuction. In most instances this is a two-step procedure that only requires local anesthesia.
SmartLipo uses smaller instruments and laser technology. It is a more efficient method of removing fat from small areas of the face, neck, arms, abdomen and areas where the skin is lax. SmartLipo can cause less bleeding, bruising and swelling, which results in a faster recovery.

How are the benefits of SmartLipo measured?

Is the fat removal permanent?
The fat removal is permanent. Should you gain weight, the fat will return to the areas not treated with the laser. For best results, maintain a healthy diet and exercise program.
How many treatments are required?
SmartLipo can take 15 minutes on the neck and several hours on larger areas. Most patients have only one treatment. However, a touch up treatment may be required in some patients.
How will my figure look after surgery?
Shortly after the procedure, the treated area will appear tighter, compact and smaller. The skin tightening is a gradual process and with continual improvement best results are seen after several months.
What will my recovery be like?
Patients who receive SmartLipo are back to work in only a few days. You will go home after the procedure and rest for a few hours, after which you may gradually increase your activity as tolerated. A pressure garment may be placed over the procedure area for several days to several weeks depending on the body area treated. Refrain from strenuous exercise for several weeks.
The mini tummy tuck is an operation that is designed to remove excess skin from the abdomen. It is indicated in cases where there is laxity of the abdomen resulting in bulging due to abnormal stretching of the skin. Unlike liposuction surgery, which just removes fat, this procedure involves removal of skin and fat. For this reason, it is more extensive than liposuction. The actual extent of surgery will depend on the amount of excess skin.
Prior to mini tummy tuck surgery, the amount of skin that is to be removed is carefully marked. An incision is made in the bikini line and the excess skin is pulled down and inward, and is removed along with underlying fatty tissue. The muscles are not tightened during this procedure shortening the recovery time dramatically. The skin is carefully redraped and the incision closed with several layers of absorbable sutures.
Recovery time is usually 5-7 days but many patients go back to there normal light duty activities within days.
Fat Transfer
Fat transfer, also called fat injection, is a medical procedure that uses the patient's own fat tissue to increase the volume of fat in the subcutaneous area of the body.
An advantage of fat transfer is that is is the patient's own tissue and not subject to rejection by the body. Another advantage is that most other dermal fillers are absorbed by the body between three to nine months.
Fat transfer is used in cosmetic surgery to:

Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation has one of the highest patient satisfaction rates in cosmetic surgery and it is currently one of the most sought-after procedures in this country.
Also known as Augmentation Mammaplasty, breast augmentation involves in using implants for fuller breasts or restore volume post pregnancy or weight loss.
Patient has two options of breast implants: MemoryGel® (Silicone Gel) or Saline implants. The procedure is done with local anesthesia and incision is made at the inframammary fold and implant is placed under chest muscle.
The placement under the muscle gives a very natural appearance and greatly lessens the possibility of a hardened capsule around the implant and eliminates rippling. Since you are awake, you are placed in a sitting position where you are part of the team to determine a satisfactory appearance and size.
Fifteen minutes after the procedure is completed, you will be able to walk out of the office. However, we do require someone to drive you home. That person must also be available to remain in the office during the procedure. In addition, you will be required to visit our office for follow up appointments to monitor your progress and healing.
